In partnership with Rhodia
If you think you’ve travelled a lot, imagine the journey that so many Rhodia notepads have taken over the years. But there’s a reason that this French-made, high-end stationery range has clocked up so many miles since the company released its first notepad in 1934 in Lyon – multiple reasons, in fact.
But before we get into those reasons, let’s take a moment to appreciate that launch date again: 1934, a whole nine decades ago. To celebrate an incredible 90 years in the business since that first notepad, Rhodia has collaborated with acclaimed French illustrator and graphic designer Jean Jullien, resulting in a special anniversary collection named Paper People X Rhodia, featuring Jullien’s unmistakable colourful characters adoring a range of classic Rhodia notepads.

Now let’s loop back to the reasons that Rhodia notepads have become such an enviably well-travelled item over those nine decades. Firstly, they’re reliable and durable. These notepads are designed to last, but they’re also built to be as comfortable and accessible as possible. This is achieved through a complex combination of technical innovation and aesthetics, but one that the company (whose name, by the way, derives from ‘Rhodaniens’, a term for people born around Lyon’s Rhône river region) have undoubtedly got right.
Secondly, thanks to the bold typeface and distinctive orange of the Rhodia logo, these subtly stylish notepads have become instantly recognisable the world over. Who knew that when Antonia Vérilhac (wife of one of Rhodia’s founders, Henri Vérilhac, with the other founder being Henri’s brother, Robert Vérilhac) sketched a logo in just one stroke on the corner of a table all those years ago, it would become a symbol of a globally celebrated heritage brand.
The third reason almost goes without saying, but let’s say it anyway: these are superior, high-quality notepads – the kind you’ll still appreciate using, no matter where in the world you might be.
This quality is both visibly displayed (in the warm, natural white of the Clairefontaine paper, for example), but also built-in behind the scenes, through a list of rigorously tested certified standards.

But as exemplary as Rhodia’s notepads are, you might have other stationery needs to fulfil on your travels. Luckily, Rhodia’s portfolio extends beyond just the famous notepads, encompassing goal books, meeting books, planners, calligraphy pads, satisfyingly chunky pens and pencils, and even drawing and sketching tools if you’re planning on capturing images of your destination on something other than a camera phone.
Perhaps it’s that extensive selection coupled with the high quality and the smart style that have allowed Rhodia to become established in five continents and over 90 countries. Like we said, this is a well-travelled brand, making it ideal to accompany you on all your travels, big and small.
