Spend long afternoons getting lost in the Louvre, exploring the Pompidou Centre and Palais de Tokyo, then stroll along the banks of the Seine and its bridges.

The city of lights has plenty of green space. Wander the 17th-century grounds of Jardin des Plantes or head to Bois de Boulogne, a beautiful public park, two-and a half times bigger than Central Park. The neighbourhood of Pigalle, home of the Moulin Rouge, has been historically pigeonholed by its bright lights and sex shops (all still there) but is now home to cool dive bars and microbreweries. Take a short walk from here to the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre where you’ll get the best views of the city (after the Eiffel Tower). Then find a local to announce in your best French that you’ve seen it all.
