Warm sunshine? Check. Fresh air? Check. Miles of golden beaches? Check, check and check. Kos has so much to offer in terms of rest and relaxation. Whether you love film-worthy sweeps of sand or tiny private coves, here are your five essential stops for soaking up the sunshine on this pretty Greek island.

Stop 1: Kastri

You could just take pictures of this little islet from the shore, but for a bit of fun, paddle or swim over and ring the bell at the island’s little blue and white church. According to locals it’ll bring you good luck.

Stop 2: Agios Stefanos Beach

The island of Kastri is accessed via the lovely beach of Agios Stefanos, on the south coast. You’ll have plenty of beaches to choose from on Kos, but this one is the perfect blend of history (there’s also an ancient basilica to explore behind the sands), calm water and twinkling blue waves. Lilo at the ready.

Stop 3: Psalidi  Beach

Take a 25-minute saunter east from Kos Town and you’ll find Psalidi Beach –  a place where all your watersports dreams can come true. Jet skis, bananas boats, giant inflatable flamingos –  this is where fun lives.

Stop 4: Kitesurfing Kos

Not sure if kitesurfing’s your bag? Kitesurfing Kos runs trial classes on the island’s north coast over two days, giving you a chance to dabble in the sport without committing to a full beginner’s course.

Stop 5: Vie Cafe Bar

Right in the thick of the action in Kos Town, and perfectly placed for people watching, this little cafe is as good for cocktails as it is for coffee. Grab a seat outside for sunny harbour views.
