Of all the cat cafés out there, no one does it better than Edinburgh’s Maison de Moggy – a place where both cat and customer are extremely well looked after.

This kitty heaven right in the heart of Edinburgh’s beautiful Old Town is run by lawyer and entrepreneur Laura O’Neill. All 12 cats at Maison de Moggy have been raised by Laura from kittens and the Maison is their permanent home. And what a gorgeous bunch they are, from the green-eyed Guillaume – a Chinchilla Persian – to a snow-white Norwegian Forest Cat called Jacques and Bengal Siamese, Marcel.

CATS BEFORE HUMANS

While the café is well aware of the therapeutic qualities the cats can offer to customers, the wellbeing of the feline family is of paramount importance. A stimulating, stable environment is non-negotiable, then.

This means there are lots of places for them to climb and play as well as nooks and crannies to explore and snooze inside.

For privacy, the cats also have access to a separate bedroom where they cannot be disturbed. Then there is a dedicated Cat Nanny on hand to make sure cats and customers have the best possible experience.

MAKE A NEW FRIEND

Maison de Moggy doesn’t reserve tables as customers are encouraged to roam around and interact with the cats, although there is more than enough seating inside. All children who visit must be over 10 years old and accompanied by an adult.

Those who are concerned about food being prepared around the cats need not worry. The café’s delicious cakes are all prepared off site in a feline-free environment.

So, all that’s left for you to do is sit down with a nice cup of tea and make friends with one of Maison de Moggy’s furry residents. Days out don’t get more (uhm) purrfect.
